Avatar, a 2009 American movie was directed, written, produced, and co-edited by James Cameron. This iconic movie was set in the world of Pandora which brought an appreciation to the art of 3D films, its stunning visuals, the cutting-edge performance capture technology and remarkable imagery to an unprecedented level of brilliance. As Avatar 2 and Avatar 3 were due to be released in December 2014 and December 2015, respectively, it was later announced that the two sequels will be delayed as Cameron was determined to ensure that these films provide a level of immersive viewing experience that hasn’t been seen before. Now, with the plan of releasing Avatar 3 in December 2021, let’s explore what to expect from this highly-anticipated sequel.

Avatar 2 Is All Set To Dec 2020

Avatar 2 is the continuation of the original Avatar story with the characters Sully, Neytiri and Dr. Grace Augustine all set to re-appear in the familiar Pandora landscape. With the majority of fans of the original movie raving about the sequels that have been in the making for over a decade, Avatar 2 will bring with it an Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered version of Pandora, an expanded and improved version of Avatar’s custom performance capture technology, and many other new elements. Director James Cameron has often mentioned that a big part of the Pandora experience will be about the environment and its inhabitants. He also said that he wanted to ensure that the visuals of the two sequels are ground-breaking in every aspect, so he created a new technology team under the leadership of Vincent Pace to create a ‘photorealistic’ CGI.

Significant Upgrade In Technology

The most notable technology upgrade in Avatar 2, when compared to its predecessor, is the usage of AI to create photorealistic virtual set, characters, and environments. AI will be used to receive feedback as the movie is being filmed, ensuring that each scene looks as realistic and high-quality as possible. Furthermore, AIs will also be used to create crowd simulations, creating a more realistic depiction of the natural movements of Pandora’s creatures, as well as its inhabitants.

Also, an entirely believable digital version of the deceased characters from the first Avatar movie, played by actors like Sigourney Weaver, will make an appearance on the sequel. Cameron and his team have also been reported to be testing light-field displays for virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) applications , so it is likely that Avatar 2 will include some of these technologies. It is also likely that Avatar 2 will be the first movie to be released in 4K resolutions, as Cameron has stated that the shooting and post-production of the movie has been done with the intention of providing an immersive viewing experience.

The Anticipated Sequel Of All Time

On top of the groundbreaking technological advancements that Avatar 2 offers to its fans, the movie will bring with it an exhilarating storyline. The original cast of Avatar will be present in the sequel, and new characters and locations are set to be added. Furthermore, the sequel will also explore the depths of the oceans of Pandora, as Cameron has teased that Audioshark technology was used to capture the sounds of alien creatures living beneath the Pandora oceans.

Avatar 3 — The Last John Carter

Avatar 3 will be the third and final sequel of Avatar and is set to be released in December 2021. Not much has been revealed yet about the plot of Avatar 3, however, what is known is that it will be related to John Carter, the character which was played by the late Micheal J. Gallagher in the first Avatar movie. Avatar 3 will be Gallagher’s final performance as this character and will most likely mark the end of the Avatar franchise.

Avatar 2 and Avatar 3 are two sequels that have been in the making for over a decade and are arousing many questions and anticipation from Avatar fans across the globe as to what level of technological advancement it will bring with it. What is certain though is that Avatar 2 and Avatar 3 are not to be missed as both will be bringing a level of ‘photorealistic’ visual brilliance, artificial intelligence-powered characters, environments, and creatures, as well as the final farewell of Micheal Gallagher to the Avatar franchise.

The highly-anticipated sequels of Avatar are set to be released this December 2020 and December 2021, respectively, and should not be missed. Get ready as you will be taken on a journey of breathtaking visuals and an unforgettable storyline.
