The upcoming sequel for Marvel’s popular superhero film, “Captain Marvel 2,” is set to be released in theaters in 2022. Fans have been eagerly awaiting any news on the plot and cast of the movie, and with the recent announcements from Marvel Studios, we now know who will be in the movie. Returning Cast
Brie Larson as Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel
Leading the cast is Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel. Larson made her first appearance as the titular superhero in the first Captain Marvel movie, released in 2019. She is a United States Air Force pilot, a member of the intergalactic Kree Starforce and the alter-ego of Captain Marvel. She gained superhuman strength, durability and energy manipulation after fusing with alien Kree technology in the original movie.
Mckenna Grace as Young Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel
Mckenna Grace stars as the younger version of Carol Danvers in “Captain Marvel 2.” Grace has appeared in several iconic films such as “Gifted,” “The Tale of Despereaux” and “Annabelle Comes Home.”
Jude Law as Yon-Rogg
Making his return from “Captain Marvel” is Jude Law as Yon-Rogg. He is a Kree military commander and an antagonist of Carol Danvers. He’s a skilled warrior and technician.
New Cast
Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan / Miss Marvel
The newest addition to the cast is the young and upcoming star Iman Vellani in the role of Kamala Khan, or Miss Marvel. Khan is a teenage Pakistani-American superhero and a fan-favorite character in the comic book universe. She is a polymorph, which means that she has the ability to alter her body’s shape and size.
Rashida Jones as Carol Danvers’ Best Friend
Rashida Jones will star as the best friend of Carol Danvers in “Captain Marvel 2.” Jones is best known for her role in the popular TV show, “Parks and Recreation.”
Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva
Gemma Chan stars as Minn-Erva, a Kree spy and assassin. She is a skilled fighter and strategist and a rival of Carol Danvers.
Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau
Teyonah Parris will star as Monica Rambeau in the upcoming movie. She is the daughter of Carol Danver’s best friend, and she is a former member of the US Air Force.
Ben Mendelsohn as Talos
Reprising his role from “Captain Marvel” is Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, the leader of the shape-shifting alien race known as the Skrulls. He is a ruthless and cunning character.
Kick Gurry as Goose
Kick Gurry returns as Goose, a Flerken who is Carol Danvers’ pet. Contrary to his cute and fluffy appearance, he is a powerful and dangerous creature with the ability to store weapons in his tentacles.
Unknown Role – Angela Bassett
The latest addition to the cast is the Oscar-winning actress, Angela Bassett. No information has been released regarding who she will be playing in the film, but she is sure to make an impact with her acting chops.
